2TB storage… on your mobile?

OK, I love this shit. I’m reading this article on slashdot about the new miCard standard that’s just been approved for storage on mobile devices. You can pics of this little mini marvel here. Basically it’s a next-gen memory-stick/card for mobile phones, cameras, and the like. The clever twist is that the back of it plugs directly into a USB drive. No more of those dufusy cardreaders. Schweet.

I always find it slightly amusing to think that my current memory card in my camera has 12.8 times the storage capacity of my first computer. But look carefully at the specs. This card will start at 8GB in capacity, with support for up to 2048GB!!!!! How you are going to squeeze that much data onto something that tiny I really don’t know, and they probably don’t either, but still. I need a couple of terabytes of storage on my phone, don’t you?
